Thermage FLX

The Thermage system® is a non-invasive radiofrequency (RF) therapy that can smooth, tighten and contour skin for an overall younger-looking appearance.

As we age, the collagen that keeps our skin firm breaks down resulting in aging skin that contains fine lines and wrinkles. A Thermage FLX™ treatment uses radiofrequency technology to heat the deeper, collagen-rich layers of the skin. The applied heat causes collagen to contract and encourages new collagen to start growing. This helps create smoother skin after just one treatment with results that continue to improve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Prior to starting the treatment, a temporary grid is applied to your face to as a treatment guideline. It is removed immediately after the treatment. While the treatment is being performed, the tip of the device’s handpiece is gently pressed against your skin to deliver a pulse of radio frequency (RF) energy and is repeated throughout the treatment. The tip cools and protects the epidermis while the energy penetrates deep into the skin to heat collagen fibers. To reduce the heat sensation, the tip has built-in cooling that is sprayed evenly over the surface of the skin. The handpiece vibrates during the radio frequency pulse which is proven to reduce discomfort.

Depending on the treatment area, it may take 40 to 60 minutes to complete.

Most patients return to their regular activities immediately following treatment. No special care is required afterward, aside from basic skin maintenance and sunscreens as part of a regular skincare regimen.

Mild redness and swelling are commonly seen after the treatment but usually subside in 3 to 7 days. There might be sensitivity to touch and discomfort in the treated areas after the procedure- will fade gradually within 1 month.

Because the treatment works by stimulating collagen growth, it takes about 3 to 6 months to see results.

Ultherapy

The Ultherapy® procedure stimulates collagen production by delivering focused ultrasound energy to the skin’s foundational layer typically addressed in cosmetic surgery—without cutting or disrupting the surface of the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Prior to starting the treatment, a temporary treatment guideline is outlined on your face. It is removed immediately after the treatment. An ultrasound gel is applied on the skin and then the smooth treatment applicator is placed against your skin. Next, your provider will use Ultherapy’s ultrasound imaging to first see deep within the skin to determine optimal placement of the treatment energy, and then deliver the focused ultrasound energy beneath the skin’s surface. During the treatment delivery, you will feel tiny amounts of energy being deposited to precise depths, indicating that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Comfort levels can vary from person to person, but the sensation only lasts while the energy is being delivered.

Depending on the treatment area, it may take 30 to 90 minutes to complete.

Your skin might appear flushed at first, but the redness should disappear within a few hours. Some patients experience slight swelling, tingling or tenderness to the touch, but these are mild and temporary in nature. There might be sensitivity to touch and discomfort in the treated areas after the procedure- will fade gradually within 1 month.

Some patients see an initial effect right after their treatment, but the real results appear over 3 to 6 months as new collagen works to lift and tighten skin.
